Imported Wine Trends - June 2010
The growing success of bottled wine imports, especially from Europe, made the U.S. wine market even more competitive in 2010. Bottled wine imports came roaring back this year, climbing by 4.7 million cases, or 12.4%, in comparison with a 1% decline during the first half of 2009. In contrast, bulk wine imports tripled last year to 12.9 million cases, but this year they dropped by 33% to 8.6 million cases. The net result was that total bottled and bulk imports edged up just 1% through June.
